As 2022 rolls in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Odette, Mainit returns to a "new normal" with resilience and determination to restore and rebuild what were lost during the calamity. Some establishments and business are now open; the streets once again filled with people going about their business of daily living. Yet for many who live in the margins and who have lost their humble homes, the suffering continues. Building supplies are not only scarce but have also gone up in prices. The basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter remain a daily struggle for many families.

To lend a helping hand in the restoration of the town, TMI kick started project "Pa Atup para sa Mainitnon" on January 8, 2022. TMI's relief initiative included donations of roofing sheets and building materials, so the most deserving families may have roofs over their heads. Based on the LGU's evaluation of totally wrecked homes.

TMI has provided sixty households so far, with roofing G.I. sheets and building supplies. The warm smiles of the recipients and their joyful laughter of near disbelief, greeted TMI members. One of our eldest recipients, a 98-year old resident beamed with joy as he and others witnessed the relief that was being given to them. The families voiced their sentiments and shared their gratitude to TMI for donations.

With the launch of Project "Pa-Atup para sa Mainitnon"opportunities to band together and uplift each other abound. A light of hope has been shared throughout the town. Many families have now roofs over their heads and can look forward to a new Beginning. May we all continue to lend a helping hand and build a brighter future for the place we call home, Mainit.

You can do your part in the restoration of our beloved town. Join us and we can help rebuild Mainit hand in hand.
